Moodbidri : The CPI(M) took out a Padayatra in Moodbidri town on Friday April 11 to seek public support for Yadav Shetty, the CPI(M) candidate contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Mangalore.



Addressing a public meeting held near the Rajeev Gandhi Complex later, Yadava Shetty said the people who had lost their houses and lands for the SEZ, MRPL and other projects have still not been compensated and that the families of the victims have also not been provided employment as promised.
He urged the people to reject those who have failed to bring projects which are conducive to the growth of the district.
GN Nagaraj, State Committee Member of the CPI(M) who also spoke, questioned why the ministers from DK and Udupi districts have not put in any effort to include Tulu in the eighth schedule of the Constitution when there was a Congress led UPA government even at the Centre.
“What are the contributions of MPs and MLAs of the district? What has MP Nalin Kumar Kateel done to solve unemployment problem in the district?” he questioned.
Lakshmi, State leader of Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane, Balakrishna Shetty, State Committee Member of CPI(M), Shantharam Nayak and others were present.
