Mangaluru: Hours after BJP members protested against Mayor Kavitha Sanil addressed a press meet at Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on April 12 and said,” MCC would continue the rationing of water till this month. As mayor I don’t want to take risk. During the month of May, we will provide water daily as monsoon may start from the month of June. Everyday, we are examining the availability of water in the dam.”
She also said that MCC had spent Rs 1.43 Crore to provide drinking water facilities like digging borewell, cleaning the open well and so on.

Commenting on the opposition, Sanil reacted that playing politics on drinking water was not fair. “When I went on an inspection to the dam, I had asked the opposition party leaders to join us to check the availability of water. The opposition party knows the truth but unnecessarily it politicising the issue”, she retorted.

Deputy Mayor Rajaneesh Kapikad, Corporator Shashidar Hegde and others were present.
