Mangalore: With the objective of protecting trees and sensitizing the public in this regard, the   Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya organised a Vriksha Bandhana programme with the theme ‘Save and Grow Trees’ in the city on Monday August 11. The programme was launched by city Mayor Mahabala Maarla.

The Mayor tied a wire mesh around a tree at Balmatta in Mangalore as part of the programme.  One could also see a poster with a writing ‘Trees and Plants are Living Gods on this Earth,’ tied around the tree.

Dinesh Holla, noted artist and Convenor of the Sanchaya and several environmentalists and MCC officers were present at the function.
