Vittal(Mangalore) : Finally, some solution has been found to the impasse at the Vittal Government First Grade College. The College Principal has now been sent on a week’s leave without pay by the Education Department.
The College had witnessed much tension ever since the Students Council election. Seven students had been suspended after they burst fire crackers in the college premises after the election, thereby going against the directive of the principal.
Later there was a clash between two student groups over the issue of eve-teasing.On July 24, Wednesday, Assistant Director of Education Department had visited the college and held talks with the Principal Uday Shanker who was asked to go on leave.
Dr Devananda Gaonkar, Joint Director of Department of Collegiate Education also held interactions with the students and had sought their answers in writing. Prof. Xavier D’Souza has been appointed the in-charge Principal of the college
