Mangalore:VHP district president Jagdish Shenava urged the state authorities to register cases on cattle-lifters under Gooda Act, in order to curb rising such cases.
Addressing the media persons during a press conference, Shenava said that nearly 4,000 cows were stolen by cattle-lifters, while the police had to register cases, said Shenava.
“There are several families who earn their livelihood by dairy farming. There is none to listen to the grievances of dairy farmers. Each of dairy farmer whose milking-cow stolen had to paid a compensation of Rs 50,000. All those who indirectly support the illegal cattle transport should be booked and their automobile confiscated, besides the cases should be registered on both the driver and owner of automobile, those who bought the cattle,” demanded Shenava.
The un-authorized abattoirs operating in Suratkal and Ullal here had to be identified and shut down. The cases should be registered on those who sell beef and who buys, policemen who are regularly getting Hafta and those politicians supporting the illegal trade, urged Shenava.
