Mangaluru: District unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal alleged that the Mangaluru City Police had failed to seize and rescue the cattle kept for illegal slaughtering in the vicinity of Kudroli despite the information given to police department.

Kateel Dinesh Pai, Gauraksha Pramuk of VHP said that illegal cow slaughter was banned in the state. “The Animal Welfare Board has been strictly asked in all the states in the country to follow the law especially during the occasion of Bakrid. Even the district administration has asked that no one should take law into hands regarding illegal cow slaughter and instead to provide information to the police department. But though the VHP and Bajarang Dal informed about cattle kept illegally in the vicinity of Kudroli for slaughtering and DCP Hanumantharaya visited the spot and confirmed the same but no rescue operation was conducted or any action initiated against those who violated the law.”

“Despite confirmed information, police department have failed to take necessary action. This shows that the police department is indirectly supporting the illegal cow slaughtering? How can we trust the police department? Is it not this attitude of police department that is provoking the society to take the law into hands? VHP and Bajrang Dal condemns this”, he said.

In this regard, the organisation has filed a complaint with Director General of Police through SMS, he informed.

VHP District Secretary Gopal Kuthar, District Working President Jagadish Shenava and others were present.
