Mangaluru: Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu, said that the opposition – mainly the Congress and the Communist parties have been misusing the Hyderabad Dalit student suicide case for political gains.

Addressing the media at the Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday January 20, Naidu said that nine students of Hyderabad University committed suicide in nine years during the Congress rule and nobody raised any questions. However, the death of Rohit was being politicized. Rahul Gandhi never visited families of those students. But now, his courtesy visit to Hyderabad is nothing but cheap politics, he added.
“Rohit did not mention anybody’s name in his suicide note. Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati and Kejriwal have been taking advantage of this unfortunate death to malign the image of Prime Minister Modi and the BJP,” he said.
Congress playing 4D game
Naidu said that the oppositions are not being able to digest Modi’s developmental plans due to which they resort to false propaganda against the government. “The oppositions use a 4D formula (delay, defame, disrupt, divert) against Modi’s 1 D formula (development) to stall progress,” he said.
He further said that the government under Modi’s rule has lifted India from fiscal, revenue, current account, trade and trust deficit. The World Bank and the World Economy Forum have declared India as the most preferred investment destination. While the world economy is slowing down, India’s economy is moving forward. Lot of employment opportunities will be generated as foreign investments are flowing to India, he informed.
SGT Bill – Congress playing spoilsport
Speaking about the delay in implementing the SGT Bill, Naidu said that the Bill was formed by the Congress in 2008. To study the Bill in detail, itwas referred to a committee formed by Finance Ministers of West Bengal Amit Das Gupta (Communist), Bihar’s Sushil Kumar Modi (BJP) and Kerala’s KM Mani (Congress). All of them recommended its implementation with a few changes. They also travelled 16 countries to learn their models and found that the SGT Bill was in use in 116 countries and it helps reduce tax, corruption and harassment. The Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha. However, the Congress wanted it to be referred it to a senate committee after which Sonia Gandhi assured she would express her consent. After get a nod from the committee, the Bill is back. However, Rahul Gandhi is now saying that the Congress would pass the Bill only if their conditions are met. The Congress is thereby involving in anti-people act purely for political motives.
