Mangaluru: As a measure to regulate the flow of traffic on National Highways, the district administration will block the movement of heavy vehicles for half an hour in the morning and in the evening, in the Mangaluru city limits. The new module will be introduced on an experimental basis from December 31.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan informed the spots have been identified to halt heavy vehicles in Surathkal and Kotekar on NH-66 and Kannur on NH-75.

A decision whether or not to continue the module will be taken after examining the pros and cons of the experiment. A similar module is in place in Bengaluru and other cities.
