Mangaluru: The 148 year old Mangaluru University College building in Hampankatta will receive Rs. 1.82 crore by University Grants commission for restoration. During his visit to the college campus, Former Union Minister M Veerappa Moily informed the media on Wednesday that Rs. 91.50 lakh has already been released in funds.

“The total funds received will be put to use by building a hall, more classrooms, an art gallery and a library. Restoration work of Ravindra Kalabhavan will also be undertaken under the same funds. However, there is a total requirement of Rs. five crore to complete all the renovations which will be collected from donors”, Moily said.
On his earlier visit to the University College campus to inaugurate Foundation Day on 27 September 2016, Moily took a stroll down memory lane and promised development of the college where he studied. Moily, along with minister Abhayachandra Jain and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel launched the mid-day meal scheme for students of the college.
