Mulki : An incident in which a five member gang of thieves broke into a house on the main road at Kinnigoli on July 3, Thursday night and made a vain bid to loot the house after tying up and gagging the three occupants of the house and killing the domestic dog, has come to light on Friday July 4 morning.











The dacoity attempt took place in a house named Love Paradise of NRI entrepreneur Ronald D’Souza near Bhattakodi. Stephania D’Souza, a 94 year old woman , a neighbour named Jacintha Noronha who used to sleep in the house and her son Clady Noronha were in the house when the dacoity attempt took place. All of them were later hospitalised and discharged after treatment.
The old woman, a retired teacher is the paternal aunt of Ronald and used to stay alone in the house. However, neighbours Jacintha and Clady used to accompany her during night. It is said at around 1.30 am on Thursday a five member gang entered the house by breaking the rear door and tied down the three using saree and bed sheet. They were also gagged. The thieves then searched the entire house and then tortured the old woman demanding cash and jewels in the house. It is believed that they had broke into the house hoping to lay hands on huge cash and jewels.
It is said the thieves later took Rs 1000 from the purse of the woman, killed the dog by poisoning it and dumped its body in a construction site.
The thieves had also covered the CC Camera in front of the house and changed the direction of the camera in the rare of the house.
According to the family members the dacoits were around 35 to 40 years of age, two spoke Hindi and other two Tulu and Kannada.
It is said they were in the house till 5 am and finally left after snatching the chain of a youth in the house.
Mulki police along with finger print experts and dog squad arrived in the house. One Ganesh Padmanur who was taking care of the house has lodged a complaint with Mulki Police.
Mangalore Police Commissioner R Hithendra, DCP Vishnuvardhan, ACP Ravikumar and others visited the spot. Investigations are underway.
