Udupi: The two-day “Beach Utsav” initiated by Utsava Samithi was inaugurated at the Malpe Beach on Saturday February 15.

Jayaprakash Hegde, MP Udupi-Chickamaglur inaugurated in the presence of Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA Udupi, who presided over the programme.

Jayaprakash Hegde, in his inaugural speech said that a lot more efforts are required showcase the true beauty of the Malpe beach. The beach contributes immensely towards attracting tourist to Udupi.

The MLA said that the Malpe beach has been attracting tourists from years and its development aspect should not be ignored. The available recourses to develop the tourism activities in the beach must be used appropriately, added the MLA.

The major attraction on the shore is the seafood fest. There was a motorcycle stunt, events beach kabbadi, beach football, beach throw ball and beach volleyball.

The competitions were held until evening. The evening was glamorized with the orchestra and film dance competition by the teams selected for the purpose.
