Mangaluru: After violent protests and police lathi-charge were observed in the city on Thursday, December 19, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha has imposed a curfew within the Mangaluru Central jurisdiction. The curfew will be in force till tomorrow, December 20 midnight.
The areas coming under the curfew orders are Urwa, Pandeshwar, Barke, Bunder, and Kadri. The curfew is further expected to be imposed on the entire city.
Additionally, as many as 100 protesters have been detained by the Bunder Police in order to bring the situation under control.
According to the reports, around 20 police personnel were injured in the clashes.
Meanwhile, announcements have been made through the loudspeakers at the mosques for all the youths to vacate the place and return to their homes. Requests are also being made for the protesters to stop the violence.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police P S Harsha has confirmed that two persons were injured in the clash with police and the lathi-charge that occurred earlier today.
