Mangalore : Senior BJP leader and opposition leader in Parliament Sushma Swaraj has said that the UPA government at the Centre which came to power with the slogan of helping the lay man, has made life difficult for the common man.
Addressing press persons in Mangalore enroute Madikeri for poll campaigning, Sushma Swaraj also alleged that the ruling party at the Centre had misused investigation agencies for its own selfish motives and has thereby destroyed democratic values.
Sushma who began her press meet by greeting everyone in Kannada saying “Ellarigu Namaskara” launched a tirade against the UPA and Congress. She said she was visiting Karnataka for the second time for poll campaigning. Stating that she was proud to say that the BJP could form its own government in Karnataka for the very first time, she said she also had the regret that the government was embroiled in confusion and controversies in the initial phase. She further stated that the government has been able to provide a satisfactory rule in the later stage.
She said the party is facing the assembly elections unitedly and that it has already projected current CM Jagadish Shettar as its next chief minister in case the party was voted to power.She alleged that infighting was rampant in the party.
Sushma Swaraj further alleged that the KJP of former CM Yeddyurappa had failed to have any impact on the BJP and snubbed all those who had ruled that the BJP would be nowhere with the formation of the KJP.
When pressmen drew the attention of the BJP leader towards the allegations hurled against her by senior leader Janardhan Poojari in Mangalore recently stating that Sushma was a part of the irregularities of the mine Reddys, Sushma rubbished the allegations and added she only used to visit Bellary to take part in Varamahalakshmi Pooja.
MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Mahila Morcha Chief Reena, District Spokesperson Rajagopal Rai were also present.
