Udupi : The Jangama Mutt, Art School of Udupi which comes under Hampi University organized a painting and sculpture exhibition displaying great art pieces like portrait miniatures, unique water colour art forms and varieties of sculpture.










The unique forms of sculptures were made with recycled items and waste plastics that delivered a message of cleanliness in the city and utilization of available resources.
Around 35 students contributed to the exhibition through over 80 paintings and sculpture works. The displayed art was intended at highlighting and reconstructing the history and culture of the City.
Mahendra Acharya said that most of the art works reflect the Hampi culture. The students here get training in two years foundation course and three-year undergraduate course in both the art-disciplines, he informed.
Udupi is well known for its cultural values, art, literature and historical importance. With a concern to reflect the art heritage of the state many exhibitions area organized here and appreciated by the people, he added.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Niranjan, Principal said that this is first time ‘sculpture art’ is been displayed here. Stone used here have been brought from Karkala which is wasted while making big sculpture work. Waste fibres, plastics, bottles and other such articles have also been used to create art works, he informed.
Kannada and Culture Department has contributed tremendously towards the exhibition. Most of the students who participated in the exhibition are from remote areas and are accommodated in government hostels.
