On Wednesday evening, May 8, a group of six vacationers attacked a lifeguard at Malpe beach.
Teja Kotian, the lifeguard who was killed, had warned the others not to get into the choppy water because it was dangerous. The group disregarded the notifications and kept swimming past the marked safe borders in spite of the warnings.
Lifeguard Teja Kotian stepped in after realizing how dangerous the situation was. But rather than helping, the others in the gang attacked him.
After the attack, the attackers escaped in a Swift Maruti car with license plate KAO4 AD8286, and other lifeguards and homeguards on the scene tried to capture them.
The Malpe police station had a case filed against it.
