Udupi: On April 15, Monday, several candidates contesting elections from different constituencies in the district filed their nomination. Prominent among them were Sudhaker Shetty, the BJP candidate of Udupi and Pramod Madhwaraj, the Congress candidate.
Sudhaker Shetty was accompanied by Raghupathi Bhat, sitting MLA and hundreds of party workers. Speaking after submitting his nomination papers, Shetty said the BJP would emerge successful in Udupi and said the developmental works initiated by the party is appreciated by the public which he said would certainly support the party.
Raghupathi Bhat who also spoke said the BJP did not resort to hatching conspiracies to defeat the opponent thereby indicating at the sex video row revolving around him. He said he was confident of the victory of the party.
Congress candidate from Udupi constituency Pramod Madhwaraj also filed his nomination. He said there was a pro-Congress wave in the state and exuded confidence that the people fed up with the corruption and scandals of the BJP would back the Congress.
Sitting MLA Lalaji Mendon submitted his nomination from Kaup. Alevoor Yogish Acharya filed nomination as an independent candidate
