Udupi: In the midst of thousands of Devotees Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyur Mutt ascend the Sarvajna Peetha here on Saturday January 18. He ascended the Paryaya Peetha for the second time.
Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji after the holy dip in the pond, Dandateertha, participated in a grand procession began at 3 am from Jodukatte. The main attraction for the general public was the colorful procession which had 17 tableaux and 28 cultural troupes.
A difference in the age old tradition was witnessed as Shiroor Swamiji positioned an idol of Ganapati on the palanquin while others sat on the decorated vehicle without Palaquins this time. The change was due to the disagreement between Pejawar and Shiroor Swamiji regarding the palanquins carried by devotees or an open vehicle.
As the Elephant of Krishna Mutt, Subhadra had some health issues the elephant was bought from Darmasthala. Behind the deity Palanquin, Kaniyoor Swamiji led the Ashta Mutt Swamiji procession, followed by senior and junior Swamijis of Pejawar Mutt, Shiroor Mutt, Krishnapur Mutt and Palimar Mutt.
Teams of Bands, Chende sets, Dollu Kunitha, Huli Vesha, Nasik bands and various performances with fire added illuminated the procession.
At 6 am, Sri Kaniyoor Mutt Swamiji visited Lord Sri Krishna through Kanakana Kindi, and distributed grains to Brahmins. He also took the blessings of deities Sri Chandramouleshwara and Sri Anantheshwar and accented the throne.
Paryaya Darbar was held at Rajyangana, where the new Paryaya Swamiji was welcomed by Sri Sode Mutt Swamiji. Paryaya Swamiji was blessed by famous temple seers like Thirupathy, Srirangam, Kumbakonam, Kanchi and it also included Veerendra Hegde of Sri Dharmasthala.
District in-charge minister Vinaykumar Sorake, Udupi-Chikmangalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, Ragupathi Bhat and others were present.
On Friday night a special felicitation for Sode Vadiraj Mutt seer, Sri Vishwavallabhatheertha from the new Kaniyur Mutt seer Sri Vidyawavallabhatheertha Swamiji was organized for completing 2 successful years.
The Brahma Chariot within 2 months is the special contribution from sode seer to the Mutt.
