Udupi :Kannada culture and language should be protected and strengthened said Writer Dr Ramdas.

The ninth Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Sammelan was inaugurated by Sri Vishwapriya Tirtha Swamiji, Adamaru Math at the Poornaprajna Auditorium here on June 20.

Senior writer Ramdas in his presidential speech said such a sammelan is essential to strengthen Kannada language.

Neelavar Surendra Adiga, president, Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Parishat said that Kannnada mediums should encouraged, Space should be given for Kannada bhavan in the CMC limit.

The venue had a fabulous collection of books being sold at a discount at the bookstalls. There was a Blood check up camp and an art exhibition too.

Suresh Shetty Gurme, inaugurated the Book Stall and Lion Gopal C Bangera Malpe inaugurated the Art Exhibition.

Raghupathi Bhat, former MLA, Udupi, Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Ambatanaya Mudradi, Nagendra Madhyastha, DDPI,  and others were present.
