Udupi : In a move aimed at promoting communal harmony and brotherhood, the Udupi Diocese Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo visited the Jamia Masjid at Udupi on August 29, Thursday. A function was held in this connection under the aegis of the Muslim Welfare Association.
Addressing the function, Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo underlined the need for the society to transcend all barriers of caste, creed and religion and added mutual understanding and respect is a must for the society to prosper.
Imam of the Jamia Masjid Maulana Mohiuddeen Jilani who also spoke on the occasion cited instances in the past when religious leaders have strived their level best to promote amity. He also recalled the visit of the Shiroor seer to the inauguration of the Masjid while the Puttige Seer Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji visited the installation ceremony of the Udupi Diocese.
