Mangalore : A total of 20 gold chains weighing 173 grams, cigarettes and gutka packets all worth Rs 4,23,850 were seized by the customs officials from two passengers at the Mangalore International Airport on August 29, Thursday.
The Customs officials led by Customs Commissioner D Purushottam acted on a tip off that led to the seizing of gold and the arrest of two passengers.
If gold chains hidden in an extension cord box were seized from one Abdul Rehman Kunhi who arrived by a flight from Dubai, 50 cigarette cartons and 5000 sachets of RMD Gutka were seized from one Rehman who too had alighted from a Dubai flight.
