Udupi: “Nearly 80 percent of the population is dependent on government hospitals for free treatment and medication. However,it is the nurses who try to fill the void created due to the lack of medical staff in government hospitals,” said U T Khader, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare during the state level conference of the government nurses organized by Karnataka State Government Nurses Association on Friday January 31.
After inaugurating the event, the minister lauded the selfless efforts of nurses in treating the patients. He said around 3900 nurses are working under National Rural Health Mission in the state.
The minister assured that the government will provide better solution to the problems faced by the nurses and will do the needful to meet their demands.
He also informed that the services of around nurses working under Indian Population Project (IPP) and 746 nurses working under state government will soon be regularised.
