U T Khader inaugurates Unani unit at Wenlock hospital

Mangaluru: The officials of the Wenlock hospital on Saturday received few instructions from the Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader on giving a minute face-lift to the infrastructure of the hospital.

He directed the officials after inaugurating the new Unani medicine unit at the premises of the hospital.

Inspecting the hospital, Khader ordered the Wenlock hospital authority to replace old window pans with the new ones, besides telling to install lights to ensure proper lighting at the passage. The minister visited under-construction dialysis center, first of its kind in the state and ordered speedy completion of the work

He floated the idea of setting up a cafeteria and a garden at the premises after seeing free space lying vacant at the hospital.

The superintendent of Wenlock, Dr H R Rajeshwari informed the press the old building housing District Medical Officer quarters would demolished soon. A new building to the tune of RS 15.2 crore would be erected at the same place. The reserve fund available in the Arogya Raksha Samiti, RS 8 crore will be leveraged for this purpose.

For the rest expenses, the minister had submitted the proposal with the government. The works will kick start after government releases necessary funds, she expressed.
