Kasargod: Two sisters who went to take bath in the Tejaswini river got drowned here on Thursday, April 21.

The deceased have been identified as Rajalaxmi Rajeev(12) and Jayashree Rajeev from East Yeleri.

The incident occured in Chittarikal, when the two sisters, who had come along with their grandfather, ventured into the river to take a bath. On seeing Jayashree drowning in the river, elder sister Rajalaxmi tried to rescue her. However, both the sisters got drowned even though locals tried to rescue them.

Chittarikal police have registered a case in this regard.
