Mangaluru: The Mangaluru police have arrested two persons from Chikkamagaluru on May 30, in connection with circulating a fake video.

The accused have been identified as Sunil Veigas (34), son of Baptist Veigas and Sachit P P (23), son of Paulose. Both the accused are residents of Guddikere, Aralikoppa village, N R Pura Taluk in Chikkamagalur.

It may be recalled that a fake video claiming fresh attacks on churches in Mangaluru was circulated widely on WhatsApp just after the results of Assembly elections were announced on May 15. The video in question was found to be a copy of the attacks on churches in 2009. The police started an investigation into the origin of the video after a complaint was filed in this regard.

The police said that the accused have been produced before the court.
