Kasargod: In a tragic accident, two members of a family lost their lives and two others were seriously injured, when the car in which they were travelling rolled off the road while trying to avert collision with an oncoming vehicle. The accident occurred on the National Highway near Haledevi talkies at Kumble on Saturday December 21 morning.


The deceased belonged from the same family and were siblings. The residents of Eriyal, 48-year-old, A Ibrahim Haji alias Ibrahim Malige and his sister 40-year-old Zuhara died on the spot.
Their mother 65-year-old Dainabi and Zuhara’s husband 49-year-old M P Mohammed Kunhi, a resident of Mogral, were seriously injured.
Ibrahim’s wife 38-year-old Zainaba and Zuhara’s daughter 15-year-old Jumaila escaped unhurt.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Mangalore. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after post-mortem at Kasargod general hospital.
The initial reports have revealed that the accident occurred when the family was returning from a Swalat program held in Bayar.
A group of Ayyappa devotees passing by rescued the accident victims and pulled them out from the car.
