Moodbidri : “I have no interest in politics nor will I contest at any point of time. In case I become a politician, I am sure I will be a bad politician,” said Dr M Mohan Alva, the rallying force behind the ongoing Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat at Moodbidri.
Dr Alva said so while participating in an interactive meet held at Ratnakaravarni Vedike on December 21, Saturday. “Some criticisms are heard against Nudisiri even this time as in the past. But, these criticisms will never deter me nor my strength. I have a clear- cut thinking on caste, creed and religion. But it is not proper on the part of a few to use the term Samaja for caste,” he said.
Dr Alva further added “ I have given politicians an opportunity to step on to the dais, but have not given them more opportunity to speak. I have invited them here only with the intention that they visit the Sammelan and catch a glimpse of it with the eyes gifted by God.”
“Our institution has given scope for talents in sports and culture. The students have the freedom of choice. Extra-curricular activities have never come in the way of academics. Along with participation in cultural and sports activities our students have made fared well in academics too. We have cases wherein such students have scored 90 per cent marks. Mainly we have to teach students how they have to strike a balance between the two,” Dr Alva said.
Dr Pundikai Ganapayya Bhat compered the programme.
