Kasargod : Neeleshwar Police have arrested two persons on the charges of murdering their friend, a barber by profession, through forcible drowning. The arrested are Prakash (35) and K Sudhish (24) a labourer.

The murder which was earlier suspected to be a suicide, had taken place on June 16, Sunday night. Jayan who ran a barber shop near the Neeleshwar bus stand and was also undertaking real estate business was found dead in a nearby drain the next morning.

A police team led by DySP Mathew which investigated the case, found that it was not a suicide but a murder. The arrest of the duo revealed the truth. It is said the duo  who were drunk on the  night of June 16 had been to Jayans house where they picked up a quarrel  with  Jayan who refused to pay Rs 5000 which he owed to them. Soon Prakash hit Jayans head with a sharp object and as he fainted, the two lifted him and dumped him in a drain and held his head under the water until he breathed his last.

Police have also seized the sharp weapons used to  commit the heinous act.
