Compound Wall Collapse; Survivors Recover in Hospital

Mangalore: The persons who were injured in a wall collapse of commercial complex into their houses located at Tottilaguri, Bajpe, near here on Tuesday June 18 are recovering in Wenlock Hospital, here.

Four persons have died in the tragic incident.  Five persons – Ashwat, Ashvini, Asha, Leela and Shekar are recovering in hospital.

The shops of a few shopkeepers who have built compound wall by encroaching on the colony were locked.  A few shopkeepers consented to offer compensation to the kith and kin of the deceased.

Bajpe gram panchayat convened a meeting chaired by president Pradeep Suvarna, attended by vice president Suma B Shetty, ZP vice president Ritesh Shetty and all the shopkeepers. Ten shopkeepers who have agreed to pay compensation to the victims families were allowed to run their business.

A proposal has been forwarded to district administration to build houses to victims families nearby Porkody School, here.
