Mega stars and actors of Sandalwood had joined hands in the protest to show solidarity with the farmers, thereby demanding implementation of the project that promises to feed water to parched districts of Kolar and Chikkaballapur.

However, taking note of the same, Tulu Rakshana Vedike has warned of banning Kannada films in the district, as a repercussion to the action of the actors.

Addressing a news conference, Vedike Founder President Yogesh Shetty Jeppu said that even as people of Dakshina Kannada have been protesting against project considering the detrimental effect of the project, the actors have pressed for the implementation of the project, which is against the interest of DK district.

“People here too watch Kannada movies, but the stars standing by the people of Kolar and Chikkaballapur shows that they consider only those regions as their own,” he said.

Stating that the actors must give a statement showing solidarity to the protests of people of DK within a week, he said that failing this Kannada films would be banned in the region.

He also came down heavily on all the actors that coastal belt has produced, stating that the actors who hailed from here have failed to look back.
