Bengaluru: The stage is all set for Tulu film fest, which will be held at Cinepolis Multiplex, Mangaluru for 7 days, from January 5 to January 11. The fest is organised by the Tulu Film producers’ Association.
In recent years, the production of Tulu movies has seen a huge leap. The occasion will be used to popularise these movies and discuss various relevant issues regarding Tulu film industry. For seven days, 28 Tulu movies will be screened including “Oriyardori Asal”, “Chali Polilu”, “Ekka Sakka” and the likes which scripted history in Tuluvas film industry.
“In fact, we wanted to screen even the old popular movies like “Enna tangadi”, “Bangar Patler”. But, the movies which can be screened through satellite will be shown. The old movies are in negative format and the expense to digitalise them is bit high. If the producers come forward to convert those movies to digital form, they can be screened. Not only award winning movies, but most of the successful movies are in the list,” said the assosiaction president Rajesh Brahmavar.
He added that this film fest is a part of Kannada film fest. “There will be many interactions. The producers, directors, actors, technicians from many languages including Kannada and government representatives will be invited for the interactions. Moreover, the relevant problems being faced by the Tulu film industry will be discussed. This occasion would help to find out some solutions,” he said.
If this film fest proves to be a success, the organisers have plans to conduct similar programmes at Bengaluru, Hubballi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and other cities.
