Mangaluru: Tulu cinema which saw a flurry of releases in 2014, will now get its own awards. A model of the Tulu Cinema award trophy was unveiled and kept on display at the Fiza Mall in Mangaluru, the hub of Tulu Wood, here on Sunday.
30 awards will be given away on 31st January when the award ceremony is held.
Awards will be announced for multiple categories, some of which are best actor, actress, film director, supporting, comedy, villain, music, playback singing, cinematography, choreography etc a press release said.
The nominated films relate to the years 2012, 2013 and 2014, and include Bangaradha Kural, Amaet Asal Emet Kusal, Sompa, Telikhedha Bollli, Rikshaw driver, Pakkilu Mooji, Barke, Nirel, Brahma shri Narayana Guru Swamy, Rang, Challi Polilu, and Madime.
Older Tulu films and their makers and technicians will also be honored on the occasion as will Byari and Konkani films of the region.

Shooting of ‘Right Bokka Left’ , a new Tulu film to begin on Tuesday
A new tulu film will begin shooting in Udupi on Tuesday. The director of the film, Yatish Kumar Alva, speaking to press persons, said that the film would be an all out comedy.
The story of the film revolves around two friends and how one of them deals with the three women in his life. It’s a two and half hour film, will have three songs, 91 artists and be shot in Udupi and Mangalore, he announced.
Shooting should take about a month he said, with the first phase from Jan 6th to the 31st in Udupi and the second phase from February 1st to the 7th in Mangaluru, Alva said.
The film is estimated to cost Rs: 60 Lakhs. Theatre actor Sandeep Shetty will be making his debut in the film industry. Prasanna Shetty will play an important role and the three lead actresses are Chaya Harsh, Namitha Sharan, and Mohair Shetty.
Bhasker Rai, the executive producer was also present at the presser.
