Kasargod : A car and a bike parked in front of a house at Anangur Tipu Nagar were torched by some miscreants during the wee hours of February 27, Thursday. If the bike was completely gutted, the car was partially damaged in the fire.

It is learnt, a major casualty was averted as the  occupants of the house woke up on  hearing a loud sound. Eyewitnesses say there was even the possibility of the fire engulfing the house too. The  incident took place at around 1.30 am.

The vehicles belonged to BA Mohammad Kunhi. The family members were fast asleep after returning from the Eniyadi Makham Urus when the incident took place. Locals who noticed the vehicles on fire, alerted the family members.

The police  rushed to the spot  later in the morning.  It is learnt, they have taken a few suspects into custody and are interrogating them. There is a suspicion that five men were involved in the act.

Sources said some youth were seen loitering  near Kunhi’s house during night time much to the inconvenience of the  locals. The suspicion is that  they might have resorted to the disruptive act in retaliation as locals had questioned them for loitering in the place.
