Mangaluru: In an attempt to spread awareness about the importance of trees, the Rotaract Club of Mangaluru City and ICYM’s Permannur unit celebrated Friendship Day by considering trees as a BEST FRIEND. They tied friendship bands on the trees that said ‘Don’t cut our BEST FRIEND’.
The members of the Rotaract Club and ICYM believe that trees are one of best things nature has provided us and that they serve mankind in a variety of ways.
Environmentalist Madava Ullal, who was the chief guest, said that if we see friendship as a bond not just between people but also with nature, only then we can save nature. Fr. Stany Pinto, Director, ICYM Permannur unit said that the Rotaract Club and ICYM members celebrating Friendship Day in such a unique way is highly commendable. It shows their love towards nature that they are responsible leaders, he said. RJ Rashmi was also present at the unique celebration of friendship.
President of Rotaract Club, Mangalore City RTR Ganesh, Secretary RTR Sheldon Crasta, ICYM Permannur unit President Lanson D’Souza, Secretary Rayan D’Souza, Asst. parish priest of Permannur Fr. Lizel, Sr. Severine Fernandes, Jaison Shirtady, Deril Permannur and other members were present. Noel compered the programme.
