Mangaluru :Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Regional Office Bangalore is organizing a Consumer Outreach Programme at 11.00 am on 8th September 2017 at Auditorium, Besant Women’s College, M.G. Road, Kodialbail, Mangalore. (Registrations- 10.30 am to 11.00 am, Programme at 11.00 am).
Public are invited to attend the Consumer Outreach Programme to know about their rights and duties as subscribers of Cellphone, Landphone, Cable TV, etc.
Shri U K Srivastava, Principal Advisor TRAI, Delhi and Shri Shreenivas S Galgali, Advisor, TRAI Bangalore will address the gathering.
Karnataka has a mobile subscriber base of 69.63 million and landline subscriber base of 2.25 million. There are 9 Telecom Service Providers in the State. Many consumers are not aware of the regulations issued by TRAI to protect the interest of the consumers. Complaint redressal mechanism, procedure for filing appeal, procedure for porting the subscription to another service provider by retaining the same number, procedure to stop unsolicited commercial communication and unwanted calls, and rules related to value added services will be discussed during the above programme.
All television subscribers should mandatorily switch over to digital set top box to receive the television signals. Advantages such as good quality of sound & picture, enhanced services such as High Definition, video on demand and broadband, transparency and accountability in billing system and better complaint redressal mechanism will also be discussed during the above programme.
Consumer handbook will be distributed to all participants during the programme.
