Kasaragod : The festival of Onam turned a special occasion for monkeys in Trikkaripura this time, courtesy Idayalcad Sangam. Monkeys relished the Onam Sadhya (traditional Onam food) offered by the members of the Sangam on the occasion.

Balavedi activists under the banner Idayalkad Navodaya library hosted the dinner for special invitees and treated the primates by providing tables and benches for seating. A typical Onam sadhya comprising varieties of dishes made of rice, vegetables, and fruits were spread out. Drinking water, salt to taste and sweets were part of the menu.

When a woman named Manikya, who takes of their daily welfare called out ‘puppy’, all monkeys descended down the branches to relish the tasty meals on offer. Hundreds of people gathered around to witness monkeys savoring the buffet! Reluctant initially, monkeys approached the feast served on plantain leaf without any sign of fear and munched away happily.
