Mangalore: The Mangalore City Traffic Police have on Wednesday July 17 slapped a penalty on as many as 26 buses, both private and KSRTC for indiscriminate honking on the roads. A penalty of Rs 100 was slapped on buses using horns with frequency above 75 decibels. It is learnt as many as 40 buses were intercepted by the cops.








The police also ensured that the high decibel horns that were removed were not used again by placing them under the tyres of the buses.
The police also slapped penalty on an autorickshaw driver for indiscriminate use of horn. Penalty was also imposed on a bike rider for riding on the wrong side.
The traffic police of Mangalore are now equipped with a sound level meter costing Rs one lakh.
The operation is underway in Lalbagh, Nantur and other places in the city.
