Vehicle congestion became a notable issue in the twin districts of coastal Karnataka, attributed to a series of consecutive holidays, including polling day, the fourth Saturday, and Sunday.
Traffic Congestion Amid Holidays
Ordinarily, Sunday mornings witness minimal traffic congestion due to the holiday. However, owing to the succession of holidays, traffic jams emerged from the morning of Sunday, April 28 onwards. Notably, congestion intensified near wedding halls.
Tourist Influx at Coastal Attractions
In the evening, popular tourist destinations such as Tannirbhavi Beach, Panambur Beach, Kadri Park, and Pilikula Sanctuary in Mangaluru witnessed significant crowds. Similarly, in Udupi, Malpe Beach and Sri Krishna Math attracted high concentrations of visitors. The region experienced a notable influx of tourists from other states, and several temples reported a surge in devotee numbers.
Highway Activity
Moreover, the highways observed a surge in vehicle traffic, alongside the usual presence of trucks and buses, adding to the congestion challenges in the coastal areas of Karnataka.
