Mangaluru: A ‘Traffic Automation Centre’ which will come up in the city will soon enable the Mangaluru city traffic police(MCTP) to source details of registered vehicles across the state at the click of a button.
Earlier, the police had to get these details from the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs). However, with this centre being developed under Mangaluru Traffic Improvement Project (M-TRAC) on the lines of the Bangalore Traffic Improvement Project (B-TRAC) and Mysuru Traffic Improvement Project (M-TRAC) the same will be accessible to the cops within seconds.
It is learnt that the Centre will provide the traffic police with all records of vehicles registered across the state including details of the owners. It will also list out the traffic offenses registered against the vehicle.
The Centre will help reduce the burden on the cops as well as keep track of any pending fines etc liable from a person and his present violations will be compounded with the same.
