Absconding after being released on bail, Dandupalya gang member arrested after three decades

Mysuru: After being on the run for nearly three decades, the Nagamangala police recently arrested a member of the notorious Dandupalya gang that once wreaked havoc in the state robbing and murdering people.

A member of the gang, Doddamuniya, convicted for his involvement in three murders had been absconding with his brother Chikkamuniya after being released on bail in 1988. After a futile search for the duo for three decades, the police on March 8 got information about one of their sons living in the village and through them they managed to arrest the duo at Mallappanahalli village in Magadi taluk in connection with house burglary case.

The police said the accused duo were involved in 35 house burglaries in Mandya, Hassan, Tumakuru, Bengaluru, Channarayapatna and other places between 1981 and 1984. Dobbspet police arrested them in 1985 and recovered the stolen goods.
