Mangalore : Tourist taxis  were distributed to eligible beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes at a function held at the DC office premises on Saturday June 7. The taxis were sanctioned by the Department of Tourism.

As many as 26 beneficiaries received the keys of the taxis on the occasion. The vehicles that were handed over included 2 Toyota Etios, 4 Tata Vista, 1  Tata Sumo Gold, 1 Tata India Manza and 18 Tata Indica cars.

The Department has chosen a total of 46 beneficiaries of whom 26 were distributed cars in the first phase.

Unemployed youth belonging to SC/ST category who have passed SSLC can avail of this facility.
