Thousands of students participate in “The Run for India”

Mangalore:Thousands of students from different colleges of the city  participated in “The  Run For India”, which was organized as a part of celebration of 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the historic speech made by Swami Vivekananda in the city of Chicago on 11th of September 1893.

The rally commenced from the Jyothi circle and saw its end at the Kendra Maidan of the city. An formal ceremony was organized by the celebration committee as a part of the Run.
The joint general secretary of the RSS National committee, Dattatreya Hosabale was the main speaker of the event.

He said,”The youth of India have to unite themselves and work together for the betterment of the country. The country has to be awakened which has to awaken the whole world. 

Today Swami Vivekananda is still alive in the hearts of the people. Vivekananda dreamt the dream of the united India which is free from violence. But today youth are fighting with each other on basis of  caste, creed and religion. Hence there is a need to implement the values invocated by Swami Vivekananda in our lives.”

AGM of Corporation bank Govinda Pai, Chief manager of Karnataka Bank Shrinivas Deshpande , MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik were among the dignitaries present at the occasion.
