Mangalore: Thieves burgled Kulashekara Shree Veeranarayana Temple on the outskirts of city recently. But the incident has come to light only of late.




Shree Veeranarayana temple is one among the oldest temples in Mangalore. The thieves entered the temple here on wednesday night and robbed the cash kept in the Hundi. Items worth Rs: 40,000 has been stolen it is estimated. Not only things, they have robbed 2 CCTV cameras, CCTV Monitor and CD Player from the temple office.
Sources say that only those who were very familiar with the temple could have robbed the temple. They have used weapons like mandrel to break the doors.
CCTV was installed only a week ago for security by the Temple administrative committee. The theft has taken place within three days of installing CCTVs and they have also robbed all the CCTV materials.
Kaikamba rural police, Dog squad and finger print experts have visited the spot to investigate. The theft case has taken place for the third time in this temple still police have not been able to break the case.
A case has been registered at Kaikamba police station.
