Mangalore:  Tension prevailed at Kuppepadavu in the outskirts of the city    after  cattle thieves  who barged into a house, escaped with as many as four cows after brandishing weapons at the family members during the wee  hours of Wednesday June 17.

The incident has  invited the ire of the villagers who expressed their anguish  by  blocking roads after setting tyres afire. Police who have rushed to the spot have initiated adequate security arrangements to ensure the situation did not go out of control.

The theft occurred at around 4.30 am in the house of advocate Bhasker Kattemar.  It is learnt a six member group which brandished weapons at the occupants of the house escaped with the cattle in a Tata Sumo vehicle.

Though one of the family members Punith tried to chase the Sumo in his vehicle, it was of no use as the vehicle headed towards Moodbidri road.

It is learnt, his call to the Bajpe police station immediately,  went futile as the police failed to act.  Even the Moodbidri police, reportedly did not pay heed to the complaint.
