Moodbidri: Tenkamijaru village was honoured with ‘Gandhi Grama award’ given for those villages which have effectively implemented development schemes of State village development and Panchayat Raj department.

The function was held here on October 2 on the eve of Gandhi Jayanthi and the award was received by the Gram panchayat president Umavathi and Panchayat development officer Sayish Chowta at Banquet hall in Bangalore.

State minister H K Pateel distributed Award certificate and cheque of 5 lakhs. Staff Rakesh Kumar was also present.

Tenkamijaru is the only panchayath to win Gandhi Grama Award 2013-14 from Mangalore taluk.
