Udupi : Hundreds of devotees turned up at the Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi on July 19, Friday for Tapta Mudradharane on Prathama Ekadashi Day. There is a belief that Tapta Mudradharane would act as a shield against diseases during monsoons.

Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sode Mutt, Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of  Shiroor Mutt and Sri Vidya Sagara Theertha Swamiji of Krishnapura Mutt, administered Tapta Mudradharane to the devotees.

The  process of Tapta Mudradharane involves heating of the tip of a metal embossed with images of Shankha and Chakra, in the Sudarshana Homa and then marking the Mudra on the body of devotees.
