Ashok Jain has already been arrested.

The body of the deceased woman has been taken to the KMC Manipal for  further medical examination  after the autopsy done by the Karkala Tahsildar and magistrate as  she had died within seven months of the marriage.

The accused a polygamist!

Ashok Jain, the second  son of Yuvaraj Hegde and Indira Jain of Shirlalu  is now behind bars for the second time. Ashalatha Jain a resident of Ujire and a resident of Nanjegowda Layout HAL Colony in Bangalore, whom he had married on March 2, 2006,  was found dead in her husband’s house within 13 days of marriage. The Karkala rural police who had investigated the case had arrested Ashok.

A bus driver by profession,  Ashok who came out of jail, changed his place of stay but not his habits. He has even  subject to attack by a rowdy once. A case is registered in Karkala town police station in this regard.

When he was residing in a room behind  Galaxy in Karkala, he had trapped a friend’s wife in his love which in fact led to an attack on him by Rowdy Ajekar Santhu and his aides Gopal Mugera and Suresh.

Second marriage:  He was working as a driver cum owner of a private  bus operating on the Ajekar-Udupi route since some years.  Malini Poojari, daughter of Gopa and Giddi Poojari of Kukkuje Doddarangadi in Karkala taluk too used to travel by the same bus to MGM College where she was then pursuing her first year law. The friendship between the two  soon blossomed into love.

The two later eloped and tied the knot at Karkala Miyyar Temple. In the meanwhile, Malini’s parents had lodged a complaint with  the police alleging that Ashok had kidnapped their daughter in a car on September 4, 2013.

The couple later  appeared before the police station and said they had married voluntarily, Malini even said she would not return with her parents. The police then  produced them before the magistrate who on the basis of the girl’s statement asked them to lead a good life.

Tragic life: Malini was five months pregnant.  But after marriage it is said their relationship though was  cordial  there was not much of a strife. On February 20, Thursday.  Yuvaraj Hejde had left home to supply milk to the  local cooperative society. Malini was found sweeping the  ground in front of the house.  But when Hegde returned  at 7.30 am he saw Ashok lifting his wife  and placing her inside the car. Yuvaraj  Hegde told the media that he had come to the hospital along with his son but Malini had breathed her last by then.

Hospital sources  say Malini had died  by the time she  was brought to the hospital at around 8.40 am. When Ashok Jain  arrived at the station to lodge a complaint he was arrested.

Injury marks: The body of Malini bore scratch marks. Blood clots were seen on the cheeks and there was foam in the mouth. It is suspected that  she  had consumed poison after some quarrel in the house. At the same time it is suspected that  she was attacked.

Circle inspector MG Naikar is investigating as per the directions of ASP Annamalai.
