Bantwal: Suspected dengue and malaria cases have been reported in Amtady gram panchayath limits creating panic among the locals in the area.
In one single colony over 16 suspected dengue cases and a malaria case have been reported.
Few locals who were affected by the disease have recovered after timely treatment.
Local residents named Lalitha, Rathna, Dhanu Keerthi, Chetan, Priya and students Deepika, Rithesh have been undergoing treatment at Thumbay private hospital.
Local leaders had informed the gram panchayath and taluk panchayath officials regarding several people from the colony being affected by these vectre-borne diseases. But, as the officials failed to take any action, local leaders met district health officer and complained about it.
Health officer immediately visited the Thumbay hospital and met the patients. He also visited the village and inspected the areas affected by the disease.
While inspection, health officers found stagnated water in many places of the village. The officials have instructed taluk panchayath officials to carry out fogging drive in the areas where dengue cases have been reported and create awareness among the locals.
Following these instructions, officials carried out fogging drive in the vectre-borne disease affected area.
