Student meets watery grave

Moodbidri: A student of Alva’s College  here has met a watery grave at the Kadalakere Nisargadhama   on January 19, Sunday.

The deceased is Bakim Ayyam (20), a second year BSW student. He hailed from Manipur and was staying in the hostel. The mishap took place when Bakim had been to the Nisargadhama  near Ontikatte along with his friends. It is learnt, he did not know swimming and was caught in the slush and eventually drowned. Though another friend of his too was in danger, he somehow managed to swim ashore.

The fire service personnel who rushed to the place, retrieved the body of Bakim. Moodbidri police have registered a case.

Locals who recall a similar tragedy in the area a few months back, have urged the authorities to ensure safety measures.
