State level environment workshop planned

Mangalore : A state level workshop on Environment  named  ‘People’s Participation for   Conservation of Western Ghats for Future’ will be held  at Maalige Mane village in Haladangady Gram Panchayat limits of Belthangady on April 1.

This was informed to reporters here on March 17, Monday by   Nagesh Angirasa, Convenor of S.D.F. Chikmagalur. He said  already one such workshop was successfully conducted at  Chikmagalur under the aegis of the Addagadde Village Forest Committee and added the   workshop to be  held at Haladangady  will be held under the auspices of the Citizens Committee  promoted by the Shree Pejawar Mutt.

Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt will inaugurate the workshop. Noted writer Na. D’Souza, environmentalist Prof. Madhava Gadgil, journalist Nagesh Hegde, former Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Harikrishna Punaroor and others will participate.

Environmental activist Dinesh Holla, Venkappa Malekudiya, Kantappa Malekudiya, M Harish were present at the press meet.
