Kasaragod: Five people were killed in a ghastly road accident involving an auto rickshaw and a tipper lorry that occurred near Kunnurravi in Payyannur on Friday evening, September 16.

The deceased are Ganesh (38) from Ramanthali, his wife Lalitha (32), daughters Lisna (5), Aradhya (4) and Devaki (72). Lisna who was critical succumbed to injuries at 9.30pm. The two others are in critical condition and have been shifted to Pariyaram medical hospital.

The accident took place when the tipper lorry driver who was drunk, lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the goods auto. Soon after the accident, the lorry driver managed to escape from the spot. Over-speeding is also said to be the reason behind the mishap.
